A Kitchen To Cook In.
I'm pretty sure I doubled the width of that walking path when I arrived, just so I could start digging into boxes! Though I worked with this client pre-move to both edit the contents of their kitchen and designate items to a "Do Not Unpack" box for the basement (heirloom and specialty pieces), there were still many boxes to be unpacked when I arrived. Since the movers packed all of the last remaining in-use items the morning of the move...without labeling any of the boxes...this client had her work cut out for her simply to make a cup of coffee! She rummaged through a number of boxes for various reasons and didn't have the time to put anything away in the days between the move and our session. Working independently, I dealt with all items in current use throughout the space first, because those were obviously the most important. Then, I was able to completely finish unpacking all of the kitchen boxes, defining their proper homes, relocate items throughout the apartment as necessary and ensure their kitchen was fully-functional before leaving for the night! Throughout our next few sessions, we uncovered decor and different utility items which belong in the kitchen or pantry, truly turning this whole apartment into a home!

Student Space.

Entry Porch.
This client designated the front entry porch for the movers to leave all of the "Misc." boxes. When I arrived, post-move, you could barely get through and into the apartment! Since this space isn't insulated, we decided to keep it minimal-use. They will treat it only as an "outbox," keeping items by the door that need to be brought somewhere: donations for the animal shelter, a computer to be repaired and items that come and go from the car. We did also place one rocking chair at the far end, with hopes that on warm days in the fall and cool days in the spring, the clients' mother could enjoy some fresh air and increase her vitamin D!

Shed in Shambles.
Often times during moves we end up with a "stick it in there" category. That space can quickly become a dumping ground for items which we aren't ready to part with, or are just waiting to become damaged enough to justify throwing out. That was the case for this shed! Boxes of musty books, an extra mattress, heaps of clothing that no longer fit - most went to the garbage, unfortunately. We were able to salvage quite a bit to bring inside and give a proper home and we also donated some items to friends in need! Now this shed can be properly used to store recreational and off-season items!

"Erin was a godsend! She helped me on 2 separate days during my move cross country. I had to pack all my belongings into boxes to be shipped by FedEx, and she helped me pack things in an organized way, and also encouraged me, in a nice way, to throw away things that I did not need. Chaotic Closet.
For this frequent traveler, laundry is never finished. Before, you could barely step into this shared laundry room/master closet. By purging and relocating items to more sensible areas in the home, adjusting the shelving system and utilizing the overhead crawlspace for bulky and infrequently used things, this room is now an oasis from being on the road for work. So much so, that this clients girlfriend was able to move her clothes in!

With a combination of added bathroom shelving, categorizing, and relocating certain items to other storage spaces, this previously over-crowded under-sink cabinet is now fully functional with just the daily essentials.
